Back in the 1980’s semi-rigid plastic orthotics were just becoming popular. (As was the perm I was sporting :- ) Semi-rigid plastic was good, but it had limitations. It was stiff, bulky, could crack, and was difficult to fit in some shoes.
In 1991, I began to experiment with some a combination of new materials to create an orthotic that was more flexible, thinner, crack-proof, and most importantly, it could improve the efficiency of each phase of walking. It was the first time an orthotic could be used to directly improve low back and sacro-iliac joint function.
I was very pleased with the new orthotic I had designed for my patients, but the Lab where I sent the molds to make the inserts were more than excited about it. They named the design after my physical therapy office--the PBO, Precision Biomechanics Orthotic. It has been the leading and best selling orthotic at this lab, Biomechanical Services, for over fifteen years. Many pro athletes wear them, including Kobe Bryant and Mark McGuire.
I continue to bring this dedication and perseverance to your best result in all that I do—
Jean
